I’ve been a bit quiet of late as I’ve been beavering away in the studio with James Coppolaro recording so I wanted to give you a quick album update.
The 12 tracks are starting to sound great and lots of hard work has gone into the project from some very talented musicians.
In February drummer Rob Gibiaqui flew over from sunny Spain to spend a week putting the backbone of the songs into the album. He is an extremely talented musician and a great joy to work with. His playing has been the perfect base to layer the songs on top of and he has given them far more drive than they had on the demo recordings you may have heard. Expect a much bigger sound…
We’ve also been joined by the cellist Anna Scott (who has performed with Imogen Heap) and violinist Prue Ward of The Willows. Their relentless string playing has given us our very own orchestra and added a whole new dimension to half of the album tracks which they performed on.
In May we welcome Ralph Woodward and his choir Full Score to add the finishing touches to one of the tracks. I am very excited at the prospect.
Amongst all this, James and I have been putting down guitars and bass and we are starting on the vocal recording now.
The finishing post is in sight and I can already feel how good the final results will be. Release details will come in the next few months as well as more album updates.
Until then you can see some photos of what has been happening so far on Facebook.
